Android Software Engineer, Quality Platform

The role

This role sits within Airbnb's Quality Platform team, which operates at the intersection of mobile infrastructure, developer experience, and applied AI. You will develop high-scale testing frameworks and AI-powered tooling that enable thousands of engineers to ship Android features reliably and quickly, bridging product engineering and infrastructure concerns.

What you'd do

• Build AI-driven agents and tooling to optimize CI/CD pipelines and deliver intelligent developer feedback
• Identify and eliminate bottlenecks in the development lifecycle to accelerate team velocity
• Partner with product teams on architectural guidance to ensure modularity and testability
• Develop and maintain testing frameworks used across hundreds of engineers
• Write performant Kotlin code extending testing infrastructure and developer tools
• Own key components of the automated quality platform with 24/7 operational responsibility
• Review Android feature designs for modularity and testability patterns
• Implement LLM-based solutions for test orchestration and autonomous test discovery
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product and mobile infrastructure teams
• Mentor peers through code review and technical guidance

What they're looking for

• 3+ years professional Android development experience in fast-paced environments
• Strong Kotlin proficiency and deep Android SDK knowledge
• Solid understanding of modern Android architecture and Gradle build systems
• Demonstrated expertise building or maintaining test automation frameworks at scale
• Familiarity with CI/CD orchestration and developer experience tooling
• Strong interest or hands-on experience with AI/LLMs for productivity or quality
• Ability to navigate complex codebases and implement high-quality solutions
• Excellent cross-functional communication skills

Nice to have

• PhD in relevant field
• Experience with Espresso or Compose Test frameworks
• Prior work on applied AI or LLM-powered engineering tools
