Audiovisual Infrastructure Engineer

The role

This role oversees the design, deployment, and maintenance of audiovisual infrastructure supporting Airbnb's event spaces, collaboration hubs, and conference rooms worldwide. The engineer partners with IT teams, external integrators, and leadership to deliver reliable AV systems ranging from small boardrooms to large broadcast venues, while researching emerging technologies including AI applications.

What you'd do

• Lead design and commissioning of multipurpose AV systems for 30-1000 person spaces
• Conduct research and development on new audiovisual technologies and proof-of-concept testing
• Manage broadcast-grade infrastructure for large-scale events and streaming
• Troubleshoot and optimize complex audio, video, network and control systems
• Collaborate with IT project teams during design and build phases
• Travel to global offices to oversee system commissioning with local integrators
• Create and maintain technical documentation including schematics and runbooks
• Partner cross-functionally to ensure AV integration in infrastructure planning

What they're looking for

• Minimum 10 years designing, integrating and implementing AV systems
• Q-SYS Level 2 certification with programming and commissioning expertise
• Zoom Rooms platform knowledge including administration and troubleshooting
• Hands-on broadcast AV experience with cameras, switchers, mixers and SDI/IP infrastructure
• Proficiency troubleshooting digital signal processing systems and Dante audio networking
• Ability to create and interpret AV system schematics
• IP networking knowledge including switch configuration and VLAN management
• Project management and cross-team coordination skills
• Technical documentation and R&D project experience
• Onsite availability in San Francisco 4+ days weekly
