Business Operations and Growth Lead

The role

This role partners with the Japan Country Manager to drive platform growth and align cross-functional teams around unified market objectives. The leader owns origin guest demand strategy, operationalizes multiple simultaneous programs, and serves as the central point of coordination between in-country and regional teams.

What you'd do

• Develop and execute growth strategies to expand Airbnb's platform success in Japan
• Align functional teams across the country toward shared strategic objectives
• Own and drive origin guest demand growth to achieve 10x market penetration
• Build analytical frameworks and decision-support models for country-level initiatives
• Coordinate cross-functional projects with product, marketing, sales, and operations teams
• Manage complex, multi-threaded projects while balancing competing priorities
• Provide insights and feedback on key product launches and regional initiatives
• Develop community engagement strategies to help hosts and guests succeed on the platform

What they're looking for

• Minimum 10 years in consulting or project management within tech platforms
• Experience coordinating across product, marketing, sales operations, and enablement functions
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and handle multiple priorities simultaneously
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities with data-driven decision making
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to both details and macro outcomes
• Proficiency with Excel and SQL
• Fluent English communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to thrive in fast-paced, uncertain, and ambiguous environments
• Proactive mindset with resilience and learning agility

Nice to have

• Background in hospitality or online travel agency industry
• Bilingual proficiency in Japanese
• Experience with Airbnb community dynamics and marketplace mechanics
