Data Engineer

The role

This individual contributor role owns the design and maintenance of scalable data infrastructure supporting Figma's analytics and business intelligence needs. The engineer partners with data science, infrastructure, and cross-functional stakeholders to architect trusted datasets that unlock growth and enable self-service analytics across the organization.

What you'd do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines integrating multiple cloud data sources
• Develop expertise in Figma's data models and optimize pipelines for performance at scale
• Collaborate with data science and infrastructure teams to establish foundational datasets
• Work with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and architect shared datasets
• Document and communicate complex data problems to diverse audiences
• Define best practices for specialized dataset development supporting analytics and modeling

What they're looking for

• Minimum four years of experience in data engineering or related field
• Proficiency in SQL and Python programming
• Working knowledge of Snowflake, dbt, Dagster, and ETL/reverse ETL tools
• Strong problem-solving and judgment skills
• Self-directed mindset with excellent communication and collaboration abilities

Nice to have

• Expertise in data modeling methodologies and architecture design
• Experience integrating business systems like Salesforce, Customer IO, Stripe, or NetSuite
